Reservation & Age Relaxation Rules
Central government recruitments (SSC, UPSC, Railways, Banking) follow strict guidelines laid down by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for category-wise relaxation.
Category-Wise Upper Age Limit Relaxation
- Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 Years relaxation.
- Other Backward Classes (OBC - Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years relaxation.
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD):
- PwD Unreserved: 10 Years relaxation.
- PwD OBC: 13 Years relaxation.
- PwD SC/ST: 15 Years relaxation.
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 Years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Reservation
- Candidates belonging to EWS get 10% reservation in vacancies.
- No Age Relaxation: Unlike OBC/SC/ST, there is no age relaxation for EWS candidates in central government notifications. They must satisfy General Category age limits.
