India Post GDS Selection Criteria
The Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment by India Post is highly popular because it does not require writing a competitive exam. Selection is purely merit-based.
Merit List Calculation
- 10th Class Marks: The selection is done based on a computer-generated merit list using the candidate's Class 10 (Matriculation) Board Examination marks.
- No Weightage for Extra Degrees: Having a 12th, Graduation, or Post Graduation degree does not add any extra points or weightage to your score.
- CGPA to Percentage: CGPA is multiplied by 9.5 to calculate the absolute percentage for state board candidates.
Mandatory Requirements
- Local Language: Candidates must have studied the local language of the state up to Class 10.
- Computer Knowledge: Candidates must possess a basic computer training certificate of at least 60 days duration (relaxed if studied computer in class 10/12).
